AAP leader Raaj Kumar Anand will soon assume charge as a minister in the Delhi Cabinet, with President Droupadi Murmu accepting the city government’s recommendation in this regard. The appointment was announced in a gazette notification issued on Tuesday.
President Droupadi Murmu will be on four-day visit to Nagaland, Mozoram and Sikkim from Wednesday, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Tuesday. The President will attend the civic reception in Kohima to be hosted in her honour by the Nagaland government on Wednesday. On that occasion, she will also inaugurate/lay the foundation stone for various projects related to education and infrastructure in the state, said a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Wheels India Ltd, a manufacturer of steel wheels for automobiles has reported net profit at Rs 15. 14 crore during the quarter ending September 30, 2022, the company said on Tuesday. The company had reported net profits at Rs 21. 2 crore during corresponding quarter previous year.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday when he was trying to deliver charas worth Rs 86 lakh in Wadala area of Mumbai, police said. The accused works as a private cab driver. He was intercepted when he reached a spot in Deen Bandhu Nagar on his motorcycle on Monday night to deliver 17 kg high-quality charas, a police official said.

A special court here on Tuesday granted bail to former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh’s son Salil Deshmukh after he appeared before it in connection with a money laundering case. A special court designated to hear cases related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) had in February issued a summons to Salil Deshmukh after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted its complaint (charge sheet) in the case.

Greek authorities have launched a major search and rescue operation for dozens of migrants missing after a boat they were travelling on from Turkey overturned and sank in rough weather overnight between the islands of Evia and Andros. The coast guard said on Tuesday that nine people, all men, had been found on an uninhabited rocky islet in the Kafirea Straits between the two islands, which lie east of the Greek capital.
Aviation consultancy firm CAPA said on Tuesday said that more than 75 planes of Indian carriers are currently grounded due to maintenance and engine-related issues. These planes, which account for around 10-12 per cent of the Indian fleet, are grounded due to maintenance or engine-related issues. “These will have a significant impact on financials in the second half,” CAPA said in its India Mid-Year Outlook 2023 released on Tuesday.
The government hospital at Morbi has got a makeover ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the facility to meet those injured in Sunday’s suspension bridge collapse which claimed 134 lives. Workers were seen cleaning and painting a portion of the 300-bed hospital, which is a ground plus two-storey structure of three wings, ahead of Modi’s visit later Tuesday.
Two persons died and a few were injured after a fire broke out at a footwear factory in Narela Industrial Area, New Delhi on Tuesday. 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. 
The Supreme Court will hear a plea seeking a judicial probe on November 14.

The death toll rose to 135 in Morbi tragedy after an injured victim died at the hospital.
“We resumed the search and rescue operations today. It is suspected that some bodies may be there on the floor of the river, so we resumed the operation with the help of our deep divers,” VVN Prasanna Kumar, NDRF Commandant.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said in comparison to Punjab, there were not even 10% cases of stubble burning in Haryana. Last year there were 2,561 incidents of stubble burning, which has decreased to 1,925 this year while 13,873 incidents have taken place in Punjab this year, he added.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted a video clip that shows Karimganj Police intercepted a vehicle coming from a neighbouring  state and seized 676 gram Heroin packed in 52 soap cases, which were carefully packed inside baby wet wipes and stacked inside sound box of the vehicle.

The Gujarat government has declared statewide mourning on November 2 to pay homage to victims of the Morbi bridge collapse. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the situation post the tragedy in which 134 people were killed on Sunday evening when the suspended bridge on the Machchhu river collapsed. “The Gujarat government has decided to observe state-wide mourning on November 2. (The National) Flag will be flown at half mast in the state and no official function will be held,” Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel tweeted.
PM Modi, in the meeting emphasized on ensuring that those affected by the disaster get all possible assistance. “Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation in Morbi at the Raj Bhavan, Gandhinagar,” an official release said. The Prime Minister was briefed on the relief and rescue operations launched at the accident site and all aspects related to the tragedy were discussed, the release said. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar and Gujarat DGP Ashish Bhatia along with other top officials.
“Congress is saying that they will provide 300 units of electricity free, when there is no bill here for 125 units, what will we do with their free 300 units. I want to know. if they’re providing free electricity in 2 states where they have their government,” said Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur
